Buyer's guide
By Matt Smith · Updated July 2026
Quo (formerly OpenPhone) has the best-reviewed mobile app at $15/user/mo. CircleLoop holds strong app store ratings for UK teams. Dialpad holds strong ratings for AI-native teams. wlur is our own product, so weigh that as you read. It's live now with one app for iOS and Android at $15/user/mo, and it has a 7-day free trial.
A phone system is only as good as its app when your team is out of the office. For most small businesses, that's most of the time. Many VoIP providers still treat mobile as an afterthought. Features that work fine on desktop show up late, buggy, or missing entirely on iOS and Android.
This list ranks providers by how their apps actually hold up. We used App Store and Google Play ratings, plus review counts. We also checked what reviewers on G2 say about mobile reliability, not just the desktop product. Prices are as of July 2026.
This is desk research. We checked each provider's current App Store and Google Play listings for rating and review volume. We also noted how recently the app was updated, and cross-referenced complaints about mobile in G2 and Capterra reviews.
We didn't install and run every app ourselves across a full working week. Where a rating or review count is cited, it comes from the app store or the provider's own pages. Both are dated July 2026.
| Tool | Best for | Entry price | Seat minimum | Standout |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best all-round mobile app | $15/user/mo (Jul 2026) | 1 | Highest-rated app in this category, G2 4.7 | |
| UK teams wanting a lightweight app | £5/user/mo + usage (Jul 2026) | 1 | No-contract UK-first app | |
| AI transcription on mobile | $15/user/mo annual (Jul 2026) | 1 | Real-time call summaries in-app | |
| One simple app, iOS and Android, live now | $15/user/mo (Jul 2026) | None | Single app built mobile-first from day one | |
| Sales teams dialing from mobile | $29/user/mo (Jul 2026) | 2 | Mobile dialer with AI call scoring | |
| Aircall | Teams already on Aircall's desktop dialer | $30/user/mo annual (Jul 2026) | 3 ($90 floor) | Mobile app mirrors desktop integrations |
| Basic call forwarding on the go | $14-80/mo flat (Jul 2026) | n/a | Simple, low-feature app for basic use |
The most consistently well-reviewed app in this category, on both iOS and Android.
Quo (rebranded from OpenPhone in September 2025) was built mobile-first, and it shows. Shared team inboxes, call and text history, and voicemail transcription all work the same on the app as on desktop. That's not true of most competitors here.
Its 4.7 rating from over 3,000 G2 reviews reflects the overall product. But reviewers specifically call out the app as a reason they picked it over older, desktop-first VoIP tools.
Honest cons
A simple, reliable app for UK-based teams that don't want a long-term contract.
CircleLoop keeps its app deliberately simple. It handles calls, texts, voicemail and basic routing, without the AI layer or dialer complexity of some competitors. That simplicity is exactly why UK small businesses reach for it.
Its usage-based entry pricing (£5/user/mo plus usage, or £15 for unlimited) keeps the mobile experience affordable. That's true even for very small UK teams.
Honest cons
The strongest app for teams that want automatic call notes without extra software.
Dialpad's AI transcription and call summaries run in the mobile app the same way they do on desktop. A call taken from a phone in the car still gets logged with notes automatically. Being Google-backed, its Android integration in particular is tight.
That AI layer is genuinely useful for sales or support teams. But it also means there's more going on in the app. A team that just wants a simple dialer and inbox may find it busier than needed.
Honest cons
wlur is our product, so grade this entry accordingly. It's a single mobile app built from the ground up, live today.
wlur is our product, so grade this entry accordingly. It's live now: one app for both iOS and Android. It has business numbers, simple team routing, and extra numbers in minutes. It also logs calls two ways into HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Shopify.
It was built mobile-first, not as a desktop product with a mobile app bolted on. Because of that, app and desktop already have close parity, similar to Quo's approach. There's a 7-day free trial, no card required.
Honest cons
A capable mobile dialer for outbound sales, less suited to simple inbound answering.
JustCall's mobile app carries over its AI call scoring and dialer workflows. That's useful for a sales rep making calls between meetings. It also auto-logs calls and SMS into HubSpot from the app.
The 2-seat minimum and higher starting price make it a heavier commitment than Quo or CircleLoop. That matters if you just want a simple business number on your phone.
Honest cons
A capable mirror of the desktop app, but the desktop integrations are the real draw here.
Aircall's mobile app carries over its CRM click-to-call and helpdesk integrations. That matters if your team already lives in Salesforce or Zendesk on desktop. On mobile alone, it doesn't stand out against lighter, app-first competitors.
The 3-seat minimum applies no matter how many people actually use the mobile app. That's a real cost factor for a small or mobile-heavy team.
Honest cons
The app does the minimum well: forwarding, voicemail, basic texting, nothing more.
Grasshopper's app matches its overall approach: simple, flat-priced, no CRM sync, no AI layer. For a solo user who just wants calls forwarded to their phone with a professional greeting, it does the job.
Reviewers who compare it to newer app-first tools like Quo consistently say it feels dated. That's true both in the interface and in how fast new features arrive.
Honest cons
At 1 user: Quo and wlur both cost $15/mo. Aircall's 3-seat minimum still charges $90/mo for a single mobile user. That's six times the cost for app access alone.
At 3 users: Quo, wlur and Dialpad are all $45/mo. JustCall is $87/mo. Aircall sits at its $90 floor.
At 8 users: Quo is $120/mo, wlur is $120/mo, Dialpad is $120/mo, JustCall is $232/mo, and Aircall is $240/mo. Choosing an app-first, no-minimum provider over Aircall saves roughly $1,440 a year at this size.

Yes. For most providers on this list, the mobile app carries the core calling, texting and voicemail features. Some advanced analytics and admin settings (particularly on CloudTalk and RingCentral) are desktop-only.
Yes. Dialpad's real-time transcription and call summaries run in the mobile app the same as on desktop. That's per Dialpad's own product pages.
All VoIP apps depend on a stable internet or cellular data connection. Call quality and AI transcription accuracy can drop on weak signal, no matter the provider. That's per user reports across these apps.
CircleLoop's numbers and pricing are UK-focused. The app itself works anywhere with an internet connection, but its number coverage and support are built for UK teams.
Yes. wlur is live and available now on iOS and Android, with a 7-day free trial and no card required. Pricing is $15/user/mo (£12.50, €14). It's our product, so weigh that against its shorter track record.
Quo, CircleLoop and wlur all avoid seat minimums, making them the most cost-effective for a single user. Grasshopper's flat pricing is also solo-friendly, though its app is more basic.
Yes. Aircall requires a 3-seat minimum ($90/mo floor) and JustCall requires 2 seats. Both get billed no matter the actual headcount, per each provider's pricing pages.
Yes, that's the standard use case for all providers on this list. Most support call forwarding to a personal device as a fallback if the app is unavailable.
This varies by provider, and it isn't something we tracked systematically. Check each app's store listing for its last update date before committing. VoIP apps that haven't updated in months are a warning sign.
