Do you actually need a phone menu?

Most businesses under ten people don't. Four questions, an honest answer, and a script if the answer is yes.

The rules this tool applies

A menu earns its place when distinct call types genuinely route to distinct people and volume is high enough that mis-routed calls waste real time daily. Otherwise, fast pickup beats "press 1": callers rate answering speed above almost everything else.

If you do use one: three options maximum, most common first, and pressing 0 (or waiting) must always reach a human. More depth than that and callers hang up and try a competitor.
