Number porting

Keep the number, lose the old provider

Your number is on your van, your website and ten years of invoices. Porting moves it to wlur, so it starts ringing your app. No charge, and no downtime, by design.

Timescales are set by the losing carrier, not us. UK ports typically complete in 1 to 7 working days. US ports take 1 to 4 weeks. We handle the paperwork and chase the carrier. You keep taking calls on the old service, until the switch moment.

What you get

  • Free porting in and, if you ever leave, free porting out
  • Landline, mobile and VoIP numbers accepted
  • We manage the process and tell you the switch date
  • No service gap: old line works until the port completes
  • Temporary wlur number to use meanwhile, included

What it looks like

A builder ports the 07700 number that's been on his van for a decade. He signs one form. He keeps answering the old SIM for four days. On Thursday morning, the same number rings his wlur app, with routing and voicemail transcription behind it.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to start a port?

Your current provider's account details and a recent bill, plus (in the US) your account PIN. Mismatched details are the number-one cause of delays, so we validate everything before submitting. Our porting checklist tool covers it all.

Will my phone stop working during the port?

No. The old service keeps working until the port executes, at which point calls start arriving in wlur. The cutover itself takes minutes.

Can I port out later?

Yes, and we don't charge for it or slow it down. Numbers belong to businesses, not providers. That cuts both ways.
